Fresh Wasabi Root
Have you tried freshly grated nama wasabi? In traditional Japanese restaurants, this is often done using a Sharkskin grater. Once grated, the Wasabi shavings will be left to rest and oxidise for a couple of minutes creating a strong and hot taste. However, unlike Horse Radish, there is a natural sweetness that comes through without leaving any lasting burning sensation.
