While lesser known, Kagoshima is one of the main tea producing regions in Japan. Being a mountainous and volcanic region with high levels of rainfall, the soil is incredibly fertile. The terrains are largely flatter as compared to historically known tea regions like Uji (Kyoto), making it cost efficient in terms of tending to and harvesting of crops.
